Interested in sustainability, gardening, or gaining volunteer experience? This year, embrace new beginnings at Innis by checking out the College’s sustainability opportunities through the Innis Sustainability Advocates (ISAs) and the Innis Community Gardens (ICG)!

The ISAs are a generalized student volunteering group which brings student perspectives into the development of the College’s sustainability portfolio. It’s a great opportunity to gain skills and CCR credits, while supporting tangible sustainability work right here on campus. 

Joining the ISAs lets you decide what aspect of sustainability you want to get involved in through the different teams — from Emissions Reduction, Gardening, Food Skills, and Green Infrastructure; to Social Media, Content Creation, Fundraising, Outreach, and more! So if you want to get involved with one thing, but aren’t much interested in another, we can accommodate. The role is meant to exist easily alongside your studies, getting students involved without causing burnout.

One major initiative the ISAs help support, which students can also volunteer with separately, is the Innis Community Gardens! This is a sustainable urban agriculture and gardening education project in the Innis Residence Courtyard, seeking to transmit sustainability and food justice awareness while providing fresh, open-access produce to our whole College community. The plants can always use support — from helping to lead volunteer sessions to taking on a chill solo watering shift — so come out and get involved!
