Get to know your councils: Welcome from the ICSS

Hey Buddies!

My name is Brandon Liu. I am a 3rd year Political Science Specialist, and I will be your 2018-2019 Innis College Student Society (ICSS) President. But what does the ICSS mean to me and how does it affect you?

The ICSS hosts over 30+ events during the school year. Some of the events that you can look forward to are:

  1. Commuter events that will be held throughout the year can be found on the Innis College Commuter Facebook Page. (Free food and a chance to socialize with other Innis Students! Also, open to all Innis Students and not just commuters.)
  2. The social directors hold prominent events throughout the year, such as trips to Wonderland, trips to pumpkin farms, and pub nights! Their first event was a pub night at the Fortunate Fox on September 6th!
  3. Finally, the biggest event of the year is Innis Formal. Formal is an event for everyone at Innis to dress up, take pictures, dance, and take advantage of the open bar (if they’re 19+, of course). You can see pictures of past formals on the ICSS Facebook page!

The best ways for students to find or interact with me would be during my office hours, or through the “Innis College Student Society – ICSS” page on Facebook and or “innisICSS” on Instagram. You can also message me on my personal Instagram (@BrondonL) and Facebook if you have any questions at all about the ICSS or life as an Innis/UofT student.

My biggest goal this year for the ICSS is to make it more approachable and have more people utilize our great events! We are currently looking to fill 8 more positions at the ICSS:

  • 3 First Year Representative (Commuter, Residence and Chestnut) (only open to first years)
  • 1 Commuter Representative (open to any Innis Student, not living in residence)
  • 1 Clubs and Merchandise Director (open to any Innis Student)
  • 1 International Representative (only open to International Students)
  • 1 Marketing Director (hired position)
  • 1 Video/Photographer (hired position)

If any of these are of interests to you, feel free to come and ask me or any of the 17 ICSS members and we’ll let you know more about it!

Innis is a great place to get involved and meet some great people! I hope you’ll all take advantage of these awesome opportunities and come to love Innis as much as I do.
