ICSS Election Results

At around noon today, the Innis College Student Society (ICSS) election results for next year’s council were posted on the ICSS Facebook page.

Of the contested positions, Effie Fai Yuen Liang and Paul Kaita were elected as Social Directors, with 95 and 83 Yes votes respectively. Francisca Wiafe-Amoako and Steven Kang received 58 and 45 votes. Meghan Lees and Lydia Ng were elected as Athletics Directors with 112 and 67 respective Yes votes. Alyssa Kerr and Helen Yiling Fu received 54 and 44 votes.

All uncontested positions were elected, with the most notable margin being Brandon Liu’s election at 84 Yes votes to 60 No votes and 17 spoiled ballots. This is compared to Yolanda Alfaro’s election last year with 161 Yes votes against 17 No votes and 28 spoiled ballots.

Of note is the passing of the referendum in favour of creating a new representative for international students. The referendum passed with 128 Yes votes and 17 No votes, with 4 spoiled ballots. This position would be open exclusively to international students and will be elected in the next academic year.

As a final addendum, the position of Innis College Director for the UTSU is currently in its campaign period, and voting will commence soon. Be sure to vote in the upcoming election!

We at the Herald wish the future ICSS members a great next year, and will continue to cover their work in the future!
